The upcoming third album from Canada's R&B-obsessed electro-pop duo Chromeo doesn't need any more help getting talked up online -- fans have been loudly anticipating Business Casual since the album's first single, "Night by Night," came out nearly a year ago. Regardless, this remix of the latest track to break off that forthcoming record, "Don't Turn the Lights On," by San Francisco DJ/producer/Dirty Bird Christian Martin, warrants a nod on its own. Hear it after the jump.

On his track, Martin completely ditches all of the '80s kitsch and white-boy funk that Chromeo seems to cling to so desperately, and switches those sounds out for the bulbous basslines, filtered synths, and bouncing dance beats of club-ready house music. The remixer manages to keep things even-keeled in his lengthy dance mix, too. Instead of building up to a dramatic climax that reaches so emphatically for the rafters, like many contemporary dance producers do, the veteran tunesmith just lays down the grooves and lets things ride for five minutes or so. That isn't to say the track isn't without choice moments; when most of the track falls off, save for some claps, vocals, and a wee little synth, massive 808 bass drops take over the mix and make for a classic breakdown before launching back into the groove.
