| Andy Cato of Groove Armada in Amoeba SF |
You learn a lot about a person by following them around a record store -- especially one as big as Amoeba San Francisco. The mother of all local disc dealers just posted this video of the pleasant chaps from British electronic duo
Groove Armada cruising the shelves, which we found especially educational.
So thank you, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, for teaching us the following things:
1) At least in certain British accents "Bowie" (as in, David Bowie) is pronounced something like "bow-y" -- like it means to describe Japanese greeting etiquette.
2) Living in SF and loving the
Fabriclive series of electronic mixes does not make us web-schooled posers. We sorta felt that way for having never made it to the actual London club, but these legit Brits made us feel better by showing off their own Fabric fanboyness in this vid.
3) Andy Cato didn't know that "Bow-y" made three albums in Berlin. [Repeat.] Whoa. But at least he shows the classic album Low proper reverence. And he bought Lodger, so he's probably going batshit crazy right about now.
4) When these boys say "blue-eyed soul," they seem to mean "yacht rock." At least, that's what we call Michael McDonald. See what we mean?
