Catch Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall on ... A Cruise Ship?

If the Eagle Tavern isn't your style, you can catch Thee Oh Sees' John Dwyer on a cruise ship next year.
We are not kidding. San Francisco garage rock kingpins the Thee Oh Sees and rising star Ty Segall will issue their gorgeously gritty live shows on a three-day cruise next year, along with the Black Lips, Vivian Girls, Strange Boys, and Quintron and Miss Pussycat.

Called the Bruise Cruise, the ship sails from Miami to the Bahamas over three days in February. Along with rock 'n' roll, the Bruise Cruise will feature the usual cruise ship fanciness: gambling, swimming pools, "fine dining," and a kickoff party in Miami. The cost -- which hasn't been revealed yet -- even includes some drinks.

The organizers are billing it as "a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a string of exclusive concerts against the backdrop of a completely inclusive, relaxing getaway." Emphasis on the exclusivity: only 350 will be allowed to join the cruise.

We have to admit that we're sort of scratching our heads about this. The idea of seeing a bunch of grimy garage rock bands under the baking tropical sun, while uniformed crew  members serve piña coladas and apply suntan lotion, isn't altogether awful. But deck chairs and pineapple don't exactly flash across our mind when listening to any of Thee Oh Sees' recordings, either.
