SF MOMA's 75th Birthday BashFriday, May 14, 2010
SF MOMA
Better than: Being at the MOMA sans bubbly booze, artsy cakes, and "pussy, pussy, pussy" galore.
In case you haven't heard, or read the billboards, our revered downtown art institution, SF MOMA,
turned 75 this year, and it's been celebrating now for months. There's great work from the museum's collection being displayed on every floor (the
Barry McGee piece is particularly awesome). But on Friday night, it was all about the big ol'
Birthday Bash, which went down mainly on the ground floor. That's where the MOMA hosted a variety of pretty cakes and bitty burgers, generous pours of booze, and bands--Brazilian Girls,
Epee du Bois, and
Rupa Marya--for fancy people dressed their artiest for the occasion.

All night, the lobby was packed with people dancing by the stage, champagne flutes in hand (and a couple crashing to the floor). But the largest bunches of arts connoisseurs were collected in the back room, around food fit for a museum, as it were. Especially the deserts.

And in case you needed some desert with your desert.

Of course all that sugar made people very thirsty....

...and very happy.
