Now this is a match made in heaven (aka Big Sur). Bonnie 'Prince' Billy helped indie music promoter Britt Govea, the guy behind (((FolkYeah))), start doing those amazing shows along the coast by agreeing to be one of his first bookings. Govea started setting up shows for Billy in Big Sur and has since moved into putting on events in the Santa Cruz Mountains as well as in San Francisco and Oakland. (He's hosted performances by Chris Robinson, Animal Collective, and Pegi Young, to name just a few). Now Govea can add filmmaker to his credits, thanks in part to Billy. Together with Brian Ziffer, he directed a short movie starring Billy called Hombre Senscillo. The poster for the film is the bad-ass image above.

You can watch Hombre Senscillo starting Monday over at Pitchfork, or go to a very special screening July 1 down in Big Sur at the Henry Miller Library, one of my favorite spaces in all of Northern California.
