Xiu Xiu's Sad Pixel Video vs. Pixels Attacking the Planet

Categories: Video

To me, Xiu Xiu's music sounds like that friend who is forever crying. In fact, when I was in junior high, I had a buddy just like that. Kelly. Every school dance, she's spend the whole time with a runny nose, runny mascara, and a handful of snotty tissues. Girl could not keep her shit together.

Jamie Stewart's music sets that permanent, wallowing angst to a beat, and his falsetto whine attracts a following I will never understand. Now the group has released a video as twee as its music. "This Too Shall Pass Away" pixelates that pain with the same precious style as the song.

I like it much better when pixels attack, as in "Pixels" by Patrick Jean. Destroy cities...and planets, not snot rags! Plus, the credit section at the end of the clip below is pretty sick.
