Daniel Handler, Larry Doyle, Marc Maron, and Eugene Mirman on You're a Horrible Person, But I Like You: The Believer Book of Advice @ The Jewish Community Center

A book with the title You're a Horrible Person, But I Like You: The Believer Book of Advice implies certain things. Namely smart, funny, wry advice, perhaps an introduction by Amy Sedaris, a foreword by John Hodgman, and an index by, oh, let's say Sarah Silverman, to make it scatological. The Believer could have easily done that -- God knows it's had those three over for petits fours and Boothby cocktails -- but it didn't. Instead, it turned to the Rolodex. It made some calls. The Believer went full Coachella.

And since the only way to talk about something that goes full Coachella is simply to list the acts (in this case contributors), get out of the way, and let the story take shape in the reader's head, we'll do so. To wit: Aziz Ansari, Judd Apatow, Fred Armisen, Samantha Bee, Michael Ian Black, Andy Borowitz, Michael Cera, Rob Corddry, David Cross, Jim Gaffigan, Zach Galifianakis, Janeane Garofalo, Daniel Handler, Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, Ed Helms, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi, Eugene Mirman, Bob Odenkirk, John Oliver, Patton Oswalt, Martha Plimpton, Harold Ramis, Amy Sedaris, Michael Showalter, Sarah Silverman, Paul F. Tompkins, Sarah Vowell, and Rainn Wilson. And those are just the headliners -- the comedy nerd will have another dozen or so names, like Mindy Kaling (The Office's Kelly Kapoor!) -- to shake his head over.

Tonight, a minifest of its own takes place as Daniel Handler, Larry Doyle, Marc Maron, and Eugene Mirman help launch the book with readings and, if you ask the right question, custom advice at the Jewish Community Center as part of Litquake ($20, 8 p.m.).
