R.I.P. Gang Starr's Guru

Legendary hip-hop emcee Guru passed away on April 19 at age 43 after a reportedly long battle with cancer that forced him to be hospitalized earlier this year. The news was posted to DJPremierblog.com, a fan site dedicated to Guru's former GangStarr partner, DJ Premier.
Although the blog had been updating Guru fans of the rapper's health, giving updates when, for example, Guru went into a coma, it was still a strange site to break the news, however, as the blog also posts a letter allegedly written by Guru in his final days, with some very harsh words about Premier:
"I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death.
The passing of the man born Keith Elam also brought positive sentiments into the public. His musical partner Solar issued a statement saying "the world has lost one of the best MCs and Hip-Hop icons of all time -- my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru! The world has lost a great man and a true genius."
But the news of Guru's death, mixed with the anger in the issued statement, is bringing out confused responses from his many fans. (Including posts questioning whether that letter was really written by Guru). Questlove of the Roots responded to Guru's letter by writing, "gangstarr was cream of wheat with salt AND brown sugar. gangstarr was a strong shot (primo) and a chaser (guru). gangstarr was moms tomato sauce and sugar."
