Video of the Day: "Promises" by The Morning Benders

Categories: Video

Morning Benders "Promises" from Focus Creeps on Vimeo.

Bay Area-bred band The Morning Benders' song "Promises" off Big Echo is a charmed and bittersweet 50s-esque ballad that tells the tale of an uncertain relationship. The video features a tween Bonnie and Clyde smoking, boozing, shooting Tommy guns, and spiraling into deep, dark places. Kids these days. Aaron Brown of Focus Creeps, the directing duo behind the video, says that the guiding principles were "how there are certain emotions that children don't have." I suspect the most vocal critics will miss the irony as they did with the Scarface school play, but aside from views on innocence lost and what's considered age-appropriate, it really is a fantastic visualization of the band's lilting ditty.
