Weekend Party Preview: Happy Hour Pizza, French Maids, and a Fishy Dancefloor
| Gemini Disco's Derrick Love |
Friday. March 5
What: Solid w/ Fil Latorre and Andre Lucero
Where: Club 222
When: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Why: At least one thing has stayed consistent through the many changes 222 Hyde recently went through, and that's the pizza. The tasty snack provides easy temptation to hit up 222's happy hour, but the kicker is the no-holds-barred tunes pumping through their brand new soundsystem. Solid is tight-lipped about the exact selections that'll be on deck, promising only that DJs Fil Latorre and Andre Lucero will play "no house, no techno," and adding that they'll keep their selections "weird." Sounds like an intriguing way to start the weekend.
What: Hauswork w/ Christian Martin, Mykill, Drrn, and more
Where: 111 Minna
When: 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Why: House music is alive and well in San Francisco, and it's nights like this roving monthly party that prove it. Overtaking the two rooms of the 111 Minna gallery are some of the hardest working DJs in the local dance music scene. In The Carpenter Room resides all "haus" tunes propagated by Dirtybird's Christian Martin and his like minded beat-heads. Next door will be The French Maid Room with DJs Mykill, Drrn, and co. spreading the word of electro, hip-hop, and whatever lies in between. The promoters suggest you dress up like a carpenter or a French maid, adding, "there are some awesome prizes for the best costumes."
