A gay ol' time with a silver lining: Get prepped for Sunday's Academy Awards on Saturday with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus' tribute to movie songs at Marines' Memorial Theatre. "Lights, Camera, Action!" is being staged at 4 and 8 p.m., and both performances benefit the Academy Of Friends, which helps fight HIV/AIDS with its annual Oscar gala. This year's selection includes slam dunks "Over The Rainbow" and "Stayin' Alive" as well as "Nella Fantasia" by Ennio Morricone.

"Because there is so much incredible music that comes from the movies, it was a challenge to pick the pieces for this show," says Paul Saccone, director of SFGMC's Lollipop Guild ensemble. "We chose music we love and we tried to make sure there would be something for everyone. There is even a sing-along medley of Oscar-nominated Disney songs, perfect for the kids."

In addition to the songs from The Lollipop Guild and another SFGMC specialty ensemble, Vocal Minority, patrons can expect host Jan Wahl to drop some film knowledge. Audience members are also encouraged to join in the fun by dressing as their favorite movie stars or characters.

"We'll have a costume contest mid-show and let the audience vote on their favorite," says Saccone. "We're rolling out the red carpet."
