Murder City Devils, round 1
They may not have lived here, but the members of Seattle's Murder City Devils (barely) lived through countless drunken performances on San Francisco stages in their burn-both-ends heyday. Before imploding in 2001 in a spectacularly boozy mess, the group played memorable shows at Bottom of the Hill and Great American, among the venues where I saw bloozy garage punkers create a righteous riot.

Sobered up and wiser from it, the band swung through the city last year on a short reunion swing of the West Coast. They sold out their local shows, and at the Great American gig I went to, the crowd's enthusiasm was unparalleled (folks singing along to every last word, drinking for the band and them some. It was awesome).

The Devils are still busy musicians, splitting their post-MCD days between the Melvins and the Cave Singers, among their better known projects. But they're gonna come together again and play here May 6 (at Great American Music Hall) and May 7 (at Slim's). Passwords so you can grab tickets before they sell out are here.

If you're as excited about this third chance with the Devils as I am, you can always tell bassist Derek Fudesco tonight. He's one-third of the Cave Singers, who are playing the Independent with two other excellent Seattle acts, The Dutchess and the Duke and Moondoggies.
