Lazer Sword, the DJ/producer duo that was once based in our fine city, is now an East and West Coast outfit split between San Francisco and New York. The group's two members, Lando Kal and Low Limit , take things to the international level with the release of a split EP on Glasgow's Numbers label. Released yesterday, The Golden Handshake EP contains six tracks (three from each member), and runs the gamut of glitched-out, electronic hip-hop and crunchy dance beats that Lazer Sword is known to drop on the masses.

A quick trip to the Lazer Sword Myspace page reveals two songs from the brand new EP. Lando Kal's "Fuzzy Ankles" is a slow-moving banger full of spacey elements and wonky bass melodies that sounds inspired by Mr. Oizo. "Trapperkeeper," by Low Limit, has a filthier swagger to it. LL's bouncing hip-hop beat carries chopped-and-screwed vocal samples, wobbling basslines, and, like his partner in crime's single, all sorts of weird noises.

For those of you who are SXSW-bound, The Golden Handshake EP is out just in time for Lazer Sword's DJ set tomorrow night at Iron Gate in Austin, TX.
