Hey DJ! Friday Q&A: Delachaux's Saucy Porntempo Style

It's gonna be tough, but this year DJ Delachaux will try very hard to keep his pants on. It's one of his New Years resolutions, you see. And it's not an easy one, given that he spins music for the sultry hours when, as he puts it, the dancefloor needs to be "fluffed and flirted with." The guy's cornered the market on Porntempo, not to mention burlectro, and other myriad styles that stick to popular San Francisco parties like pasties stick to titties. From the sound of things, Delachaux puts the cock back in cocktail hour. Or, ya know, something like that. Better to let him tell it in his own words...
Name: Delachaux
Club night(s): Louche, Hubba Hubba, Bohemian Carnival, Anon Salon.
Style(s) of music you spin: Steamcrunk, Electro Swing, Avant Kabaret, Porntempo.
So what's your story, in 100 words or less? Well I came into the scene through kind of a strange side door I guess. My first gigs were really just friends hiring me to play at burlesque shows and underground theme parties. It was much more about selecting exotic sonic novelties rather than mixing monotonous beats. So when I started getting hired for bigger events I sort of cornered the saucy 'cocktail hour' piece of the evening where the dance floor still needs to be fluffed and flirted with. Slowly and gingerly I've started bringing in the beats, pushing the tempo, and tossing the salad a little dirtier, but I'm still firing off tracks that (I think) are just as interesting off of the dance floor.
Can you tell us a little about "burlectro"? That's just a silly shorthand for a certain style of dance music that sort of piggy-backs the orchestrated swagger and warm mystique of '40s, '50s, and '60s burlesque music over the doped-out boom and bass of contemporary electronica. It's like Perez Prado on steroids. And burlesque dancers love it.
