Scotland's young and talented beatsmith, Hudson Mohawke, has been on a serious roll. His soulful wonky-bass productions graduated from the homegrown LuckyMe label to the indie-giant Warp for the release of his 2009 debut album, the smooth and playful Butter. A video for album cut "Joy Fantastic" was recently premiered at a live event in Glasgow. He offered his third collection of Valentines Slowjams for free download--and he just shared a new bootleg remix of the classic Jodeci tune "Freek'N You."

HudMo (a.k.a. Ross Birchard) is no stranger to the bootleg remix. His break-out tune "Ooops" ripped the vocal track from one-hit wonder Tweet's "Oops (Oh My)," and turned the jam into a massive, banging club hit. This brand new track, properly titled "Freek," falls more in line with the sounds heard throughout Hudson Mohawke's debut. It features squelching horns, huge drum sounds matched with skittering snare rhythms, sparkling soundscapes lilting about in the background, and plenty of vibrating low-end. The remix properly matches the unbridled passion of Jodeci's classic vocal performance.

Hudson may not need another hit track to help generate buzz about his stellar production work, but "Freek" sure won't hurt.
