Track of the Day: The Seven Fields of Aphelion's Winter Soundtrack

On stormy San Francisco days like this, all I want to do is curl up on the couch and listen to the thunder. But it's also fitting when you discover an artist whose music brings a little warmth to winter weather, something you can space out to on headphones as you watch your windows get pounded with rain.

I've had the advance debut of Seven Fields of Aphelion's Periphery (out 2/16) on repeat ever since it came into the office. It's the work of one (very talented) woman--a Pittsburgh-based artist who will only say she also performs with Black Moth Super Rainbow. Under her Seven Fields moniker, she crafts beautiful minimal electronic soundscapes, built mainly on piano melodies recorded in echoey rooms and futuristic synth effects humming around them. Her work is wordless but intimate and emotional nonetheless, one of those "so pretty it'll break your heart" styles of songwriting.

For a preview, check out "Mountain Mary."  And while you listen, picture the song as just one of many soundtracks to Seven Field's stunning photos, which she sells for cheap on Esty, her work blending the audio into the visual.
