Kingdom crafts a Mad Decent remix

L-Vis 1990's United Groove EP, released on Philly's Mad Decent label last summer, was recently given a remix treatment many times over on the United Groove Remixes EP. The release debuted January 19, and features six new re-workings of the UK producer's title track by Buraka Som Sistema, M.J. Cole, Sound Pelligrino Thermal Team, Cosmin TRG, Baobinga & ID, and, featured here, Brooklyn's Kingdom. Upon announcing the remix EP, Mad Decent made Kingdom's remix available for free, part of the regular track giveaways posted on their Web site.

Kingdom's take on "United Groove" is slightly darker than the original. But he really makes the song his own with the plethora of percussive elements thrown into the mix, which keep the track constantly moving. L-Vis' original version is more of a slow burner that gradually introduces new elements nearly every time the vocals announce, "And we can all groove with it," but Kingdom keeps things even-keeled throughout his remix. He offers bouncing basslines, loads of varied drum samples, and reverberated synths floating in the background. It all adds up to a solid dancefloor track that could easily double as a modern spy movie soundtrack.
