San Franciscan's love an excuse to get into costume, and this weekend was a bonanza for fantasy fans. This weekend the Star Trek Convention rolled into town and dedicated fans of the show donned their best Bridge-worthy uniforms and Klingon foreheads. Fans were especially pumped for the captains of the Enterprise to meet on stage: William Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk on the original series came face to face with Sir Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation

And we also give a special shout out to the female nerds who rallied for this weekend's convention in our photo-set Trek Chicks Rock: The Women of Star Trek Con.
They came, they saw. They Vulcan saluted.
Trekkies weren't the only ones combing their closets for an appropriate outfit this weekend, though. Enthusiasts of lace, corsets and monocles grabbed their best parasols and strutted their stuff at the anual Edwardian Ball. More shots of the lovely spectacle here
and a spirited account of the merry-making here
No costumes were required for The Devil Makes Three at the Independent on Friday night, but if you wanted to don a string tie to watch the raucous country/blues band belt out music to throw back whiskey to, no one would have objected. Read Anna McCarthy's review here
