Clubs Editor John Graham reports that his buddy walked by Annie's old 917 Folsom St. address only to notice an application for a liquor license posted on the door. Upon further investigation, Graham discovered that a new business called Ql Ultralounge is applying to set up shop (ABC license query here).
While it's unnerving to think about replacing such a colorful musical outpost with a venue that has "ultra" anything in the name, the truth is the rich folks and their boutique bars keep businesses more afloat these days than the broke Pabst crews. All the more reason to really patronize the dives you want to remain open.
