San Francisco's big, annual, club-based indie rock fest, Noise Pop, laid out its initial offerings for the 2010 lineup.

Between February 23rd and March 1 of next year, the promoters will host shows by Magnetic Fields, Mark Kozelek, Rogue Wave, Atlas Sound, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Four Tet, John Vanderslice, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Wallpaper., Zee Avi, The Limousines, and Foreign Born. This early announcement is half local acts, which is cool to see, as is the inclusion of dance-oriented artists Wallpaper. and The Limousines.

What I've always hoped for Noise Pop is that the organization will take its notable taste in music and deep industry connections to give us a festival that's more than simply a string of great shows (with interesting forays into art and film)--especially considering that the Spring usually serves San Francisco showgoers well, with SXSW putting hundreds of bands on the road. What can our premiere pop fest do in 2010 to really shake up the way we not only see Noise Pop, but the experience of a music festival in general? The company has done an excellent job with Treasure Island...I'm eager to see what sort of surprises they can woo us with earlier in the year.
