We reported earlier that Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Son Volt's Jay Farrar teamed up on the soundtrack to a new Jack Kerouac documentary, One Fast Move or I'm Gone: Kerouac's Big Sur. (The movie and the soundtrack come out Oct. 20). Now the musicians have planned a live tribute to the Beat legend with a performance at Bimbo's on Oct. 24.

The music uses lyrics based on Kerouac's 1962 novel Big Sur--which was written from the vacation cabin of City Lights owner Lawrence Ferlinghetti--and of course there's all kinds of significance with having this upcoming homage in North Beach.

Live, Gibbard and Farrar will perform with Nick Harmer of Death Cab, Mark Spencer of Son Volt, and and Jon Wurster--who plays with Superchunk, Bob Mould, and The Mountain Goats. Could make for an interesting evening of literate, talented musicians and San Francisco history.
