​Washed Out's lo-fi cosmic disco has a tight rubber band bounce underneath airy washes of synth and, in one especially sweet summer jam, steel drum interludes. The music is made for slow swaying with a head full of stars, the vocals delivered swaddled in a soft melodic hush and fuzzy distortion. Eric Frederic of Wallpaper. turned me on to this Columbia, South Carolina bedroom producer, whose baked beach bum aesthetic is most transcendent on tunes like "New Theory," which you can check out on Washed Out's MySpace page.
