A little Monday morning romance for you. The best track off Chicago troubadour
Cass McCombs' new album
Catacombs is a dreamy ditty called "Dreams Come True Girl." The song opens with McCombs pining for a lover who melts away "all the troubles in my past." With a woo-worthy chorus of "you're not my dream girl, you're not my reality girl, you're my dreams come true girl," the lyrics are sweetly sentimental, especially set to a slow, kicky beat.
The song has already slipped its way into the set list of local band Girls, whose romance-laced, cosmic pop is a good fit for McComb's tune.
Check out the original McCombs "Dreams Come True Girl" here.
And here's a (very glitchy) recording of Girls doing the same song.
(By the way, McCombs and Girls perform together at Great American on Sept. 9)
