Jay Reatard: In the NY Times Last Sun., At Amoeba This Sat.

Jay Reatard is 2009's White Stripes: the kid from the garage rock world who has been selected by the mainstream press to receive tons of (well-earned) cred. It's been almost 10 years since the big dailies have paid attention to the raw underground, so I guess the buzz cycle is coming around right on time.

Reatard is making the news now because he has a new batch of scuzzed up pop coming out this Tuesday, a record called Watch Me Fall. I still love Blood Visions the best, but Fall becomes more of a grower with every listen. Garage punk's young king will be in town to promote his latest platter at Amoeba in San Francisco on Saturday at 6 p.m. and in Berekley on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Check out samples from Watch Me Fall on Matador's blog, and catch some of the NY Times Reatard love here.
