MP3 of the Day: My First Earthquake

Categories: MP3 of the Day

Local indie poppers My First Earthquake display a songwriting style that puts simplicity first. The group's latest single, "Vow To Vowels" is a play on words--or, um, the letters 'a, e, i, o, and u'--meant to give crossword puzzlers their props. The group strips down the alphabet as it strips back the synth strokes, singer Rebecca Bortman's kicky voice leading a tune that's sorta senior prom meets spelling bee. The song comes of My First Earthquake's debut full-legnth, Downstairs, which was produced by Anthony Molina of Mercury Rev.
