While there still isn't a Mission replacement for local and touring acts on the scale of
12 Galaxies, the neighborhood is gearing up for the opening of a new live music venue this fall. On August 1,
CODA Live is slated to show the public what's become of the old Levende Lounge (1710 Mission St.) space, with live jazz and gospel performances in an intimate setting. Chris Pastena, who was involved as a managing partner and chef at
Bruno's once upon a time, is partnering with Austin musician Bruce Hanson. Their first move, before the club is even open, was to book a residency for the
Jazz Mafia, who will call CODA home on Tuesdays starting August 4.
