Joshua Redman, Lily Allen and Valentino: Your Weekend Hitlist

Categories: Music
April is already here and there are lots of great things to do -- this weekend alone is filled with fabulous movies and concerts. Spend the days playing in the sun and the cold windy nights taking in some San Francisco culture.

Friday night, get your sax on with Joshua Redman at Yoshi's. The legendary jazz player will bring his music to the center of San Francisco jazz history through Sunday night with a variety of ticket prices and and a Sunday matinée.

If metal is your thing, then Saturday night head to San Jose State University for Lamb of God, Suicidal Tendencies, Children of Bodom, God Forbid and Municipal Waste. The show will certainly rock the venue's foundations. Don't forget to wear your shredded black t-shirt and boys, long hair is a must. But perhaps you prefer pop? They overly cutesy and completely irritating Lily Allen will be at the Warfield with Seattle's Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. Unfortunately, so many people actually like Lily Allen that the show is sold out. Maybe you can buy a ticket off of one of her 10-year-old fans outside the show?

Sunday night it's time to get classy at the Embarcadero Center Cinema for a night of "Valentino: The Last Emperor." The film discusses the life and career of the legendary designer and gives a sneak peak into the world of high fashion. The film shows through April 9 and filmmaker Matt Tyrnauer will be there Friday at 9:40 and Saturday at noon.

That's your weekend hitlist.
