Festival Schmestival News: Punk and Psych Bashes

The summer festival cycle is upon us quicker than you think, and while we wait on announcements from big guns like Outside Lands and Treasure Island (which has moved to the end of October) here's some updates on the budget bashes going on between now and the end of the year.

First up is the Total Trash Fest organized by the Rock N Roll Adventure Kids. It kicks off with a "totally unofficial night" involving the Black Lips at Great American and Knights of the New Crusade at Annie's. From there things get real official with the following events: Friday May/Thee Parkside (The Spits, Personal and the Pizzas, the Ebonics, Culture Kids, Wild Thing). Saturday May 2nd Afternoon Early Evening Show/ The Knockout (Ty Segall, Reptillian Civilian (Portland), The Guilty Hearts (Los Angeles), The Impediments). Saturday, May 2nd Secret Night Show (check RRAK's site for details) . That same night there's another "unofficial show" at the Hemlock.  Sunday, May 3rd Afternoon/Evening Show/The Knockout (The Flakes, The Rantouls, Shannon and the Clams, C'Mon Everybody, The Lateenos, The Teutonics). And the closing night show is Monday, May 4/The Knockout (Thee Oh Sees, Traditional Fools, Movie Star Junkies (Torino Italy), Rock n Roll Adventure Kids, Dead Ghosts (Vancouver BC)). Sounds like a whole lotta fun for a long weekend.

Further down the calendar, San Francisco's total psych blowout, Frisco Freakout  returns to Thee Parkside on 10/10/09. Can't wait for that one either.
