Cypress Hill Announce 4:20 show on 4/20
|Stoned Raider: B-Real|
It kind of says something about San Francisco's place in the pot-smoking pantheon of history that Stoner-hop icons Cypress Hill are playing not one but two shows on April 20th in San Francisco. Sure, B-Real, Sen Dog, and DJ Muggs could have probably been in Amsterdam, Vancouver or Kingston, but by golly, they'll be at the storied Fillmore auditorium for what's sure to be a cannabis-laced, slightly hallucinogenic, munchie-inducing evening.
Though these "Stoned Raiders" have become somewhat of a nostalgia act--one gets the feeling they'll be doing "Insane in the Brain" at Vegas casinos in about ten years--they're still fun to see, if their show at Rock the Bells two years ago was any indication. And while by all accounts, B-Real is chillin,' Muggs has kept busy (he's just produced another Soul Assassins compilation CD), as has Sen Dog (who dropped his long-awaited solo album last year).
I've always admired B-Real's uniquely nasal tone, Sen Dog's baritone responses ("puffin on a blunt"!) and Muggs' knack for crafting psychedelic samples. Call them hip-hop's version of the Doors and Black Sabbath if you must, just be sure to bring the Zig-Zags. The 8 p.m. show has long been sold out, but tickets for a 4:20 p.m. show are still available (as of this writing). Click here for more info.
