This Thursday, San Francisco State University hosts "The New Deal: 360 & Beyond," a one-day seminar and discussion on the new record label contract. A "360 Deal" is an agreement between artist and label which covers not only record sales, but also cuts the label in on merchandise, concert tickets, ringtones, and other potential revenue streams previously off-limits. Made famous by artists like Jay-Z and Madonna--megastars who have inked headline-grabbing 360 deals with entities such as Live Nation--there are many questions concerning the viability of such arrangements for smaller acts.

Renowned entertainment attorneys Dina LaPolt and Michael Aczon will be on hand to discuss, demystify, and define the 360 deal, including key areas of negotiation, such as pay or play clauses, multiple rights, and other important deal points. Geared toward record and music publishing executives, producers, artists, artist managers, artist representatives, music attorneys, concert industry professionals, and brand marketing and creative executives, "The New Deal" costs $25 for members of the National Association of Record Industry Professionals, and $40 for everyone else.
