WireTap Releases Covers Album by Local Bands

Last week, WireTap Music celebrated its one-year anniversary by announcing the April release of a novel concept album--12 original songs by 12 local bands also covered by 12 other local bands (that's 24 songs by 24 bands total, if you're keeping score). Artists include Little Teeth, Tartufi, 60 Watt Kid, Pope of Yes, Pidgeon, Ray's Vast Basement, The Lovely People, Excuses for Skipping, and many more.

As the official PR states, "We asked each of them to cover the band that was featured the month before themselves, whether they were familiar or not. This way our faithful Wiretap fans get a whole disc of new tracks from some of the Bay Area's finest musical talent, and at the same time the bands get to know each other and put their own spin on each other's music."

The announcement was followed shortly thereafter by a record release party March 20th at SXSW (which we hear had the largest Bay Area contingent ever). The SF record release, featuring The Lovely People, happens April 9 at Café Du Nord.
