Get ready to see the world through prescription beer goggles on April 11, when the
Nerd Nite tour hits SOMA--the very appropriate part of town considering its high high-tech geek concentration. Tagging itself "like the Discovery Channel with beer," the event has been touring the East Coast for a couple years. It now brings to our brainy city presentations about "real-life zombies, parasitic birds, corkscrewed duck phalluses, mating dances set to Michael Jackson, and...disgusting cuisines" from serious dweebs who have studied the stuff. And then there'll be a music component of really geeky indie rock by
Overlord. Bring your near- and farsighted pals to
Langton Labs a week from Saturday for all this, plus a performance by Brian Malow,
Earth's premiere science comedian. Best thing about a night like this? If you think the entertainers are way too awkward, wimpy, or just plain suck, you can always kick their asses in the alley after school.
