Anti-Terrorist: Immortal Technique
A few months back, hardcore political rapper Immortal Technique  played a sold-out show at the DNA Lounge. That show, as it turns out, was a benefit for OMEID International, a SF-based non-profit founded by Afghan-American women.

Tech's no radical chic dilettante, however; his publicist reports he has been AWOL from the USA because he's been helping to build an orphanage in Kabul.

According to the PR, Tech has been "seeing to it that this once-hollow building that has been totally revamped has all of the supplies and necessities it needs to serve Afghanistan's orphans and also serve as a small medical institute and school. While in Afghanistan, he is also collecting footage for a documentary on urban warfare that is set to be released in the fall" - about the same time, we might add, that the U.S. is likely to step up its military involvement in the perpetually war-torn country.
