Zion-I's Ex-Manager Eats Last Piece of Chicken

The culprit: Rob C.

Last night's Zion-I record release party at 330 Ritch's "Pacific Standard Time" really demonstrated why that spot has become the go-to Tuesday night weekly for the urban crowd. Despite the lack of a dress code--sneakers and/or a hoodie were acceptable attire--there were no problems with thuggish, ruggish types getting too, well, thuggish and ruggish. Door security actually had a pleasant attitude. DJ Sake One and special guest Vikter Duplaix both did a nice job on the decks, spinning classic dancehall and hip-hop, as well as contemporary nu-soul, and downtempo. And Zion-I--assisted by keyboardist Kev Choice, emcee Deuce Eclipse, and vocalist C. Holliday--rocked the house with selections from their new album, The TakeOver.

In the Green Room, following the show, Zion-I was all smiles. The backstage buffet looked like Popeye's fried chicken, but in actuality, it was Farmer Brown's organic, free-range variety, which meant that not only did it taste scrumptious, but it was exponentially healthier than any fast-food offerings. It was perhaps inevitable then, that ex-Zion-I manager Rob C., would become the answer to that age-old question (and Organized Konfusion song title), "Who Ate My Last Piece of Chicken"? After observing Zion-I's current manager Tim House casually prepare a to-go box of the tasty, golden brown fried treats, Rob decided to go for it himself. And who could blame him? But before he absconded with the last of the group's food, he couldn't resist tasting some, then licking his lips--a moment which will be remembered in infamy.
