Twestivalsf: Twitter for a Cause

This coming Thursday, February 12th, the Paradise Lounge in SOMA will be transformed from a nightclub into a nerdclub. Fans of Twitter.com are coming together for Twestivalsf -- the San Fran branch of an event happening simultaneously across the  world.

It's a community-ran "camp" that gives users a chance to socialize off the internet, sharing their love for creative forms of communication and succinct, 140-word comments alike. It's not all fun and tweets though. The mandatory $20 donation (i.e. the cost of a ticket) goes to Charity: Water, which lends a hand to some of the 1.1 billion people in the world who don't have access to clean drinking water. Organizers for the event are all volunteers, but some DJed beats and a silent auction -- which includes items like plane tickets and spa day vouchers -- should keep everyone happy and things going smoothly. Now the question is: will anyone actually talk to one another, or will they all be too busy Twittering the event?
