Track of the Day: Audrye Sessions Covers Elliott Smith

The one artist I never take off my iPod playlist is Elliott Smith. He remains one of my favorite songwriters, years after his death, and so any time a band offers up a cover I have to check that out as well. Local act Audrye Sessions--which is getting set to release its debut this month--took on "Waltz #2."
Ryan Miyashiro handles the song delicately, his voice quivering above a lone guitar melody in this tune of losing someone you never ready had in the first place. It's a pretty mournful number, but with Smith's material, what else is new. Hear the cover for yourself on the band's MySpace page.
