You Can Change the Name, But You Can't Change the Game

Clubs come and go, but sometimes an event just changes its name to keep things fresh. That seems to be what's happening over at the Levende Lounge, where DJ Sake One and a parade of guests rocked hip-hop at the Levende every Thursday for many moons. And they called it "Pacific Standard Time." And they saw it was good. Then "P.S.T." moved over to 330 Ritch on Tuesdays. But Sake One was still at Levende on Thursdays, only now the event was called "Colors." Now we learn that these "Colors" will be changing again, this time to "Rebirth" -- but other than that, the old deal remains sealed. "Rebirth" brings Sake One and his homeboys to the North Mission every Thursday night. Like clockwork. No need to change your calendars or contact info. Just pencil a new name into your brain -- but don't bother using permanent ink because "Rebirth" could easily adopt a new pseudonym at any time. -- J. Graham
