Santacon 2008, Ski Team: The Party, The Cure, Skot Olsen and Too $hort: Your Monday Morning Hangover

SkiTeam-2.jpgWeekend wrap-up by Janine Kahn

Sunday was nasty and rainy, but that didn't keep photographer Jen Cash home in Walnut Creek. Click here for her photo set from 111 Minna, which had been converted into a retro winter wonderland with snow on the floor and attendees in 80's neon ski garb for "Ski Team: The Party."

Reporter Ashley Harrell caught some climbing and vandalizing the Benjamin Franklin Memorial on her North Beach turf. And photographer Sheyna Gifford followed the merry bunch around town.

skotolsen_poseidon-thumb-400x576.jpgAlso on Saturday: Josh Creep journeyed to White Walls and the Shooting Gallery for Regino Gonzales, Dee Dee Cheriel & Henry Gunderson and Skot Olsen. And it was worth the four hour back-and-forth from wherever it is our Lowbrow Art Sale writer resides. Read his enthusiastic report here.

Elsewhere on Saturday: Can we just say that we are SO very jealous of our colleagues at the LA Weekly, who managed to make it into The Cure's surprise performance at the Troubadour? Check out the setlist and more here.

And on Friday, ASD contributer Eric K. Arnold headed to the GAMH for Thrasher Magazine's year-end party featuring the booty-crazy Too $hort. The venue was packed and loud and some flat-bottomed mamas insisted on dancing onstage despite Eric's cries of "women with flat booties should not embarrass themselves by getting onstage at a Too $hort show-ever."
