MP3 of the Day: Wooden Shjips X-Mas

Yesterday I mentioned that Wooden Shjips recorded two covers of holiday songs ("O Tannenbaum" and "Auld Lang Syne") on one cassingle and were selling these hotcakes to raise money for charity. Well looks like the cassetes are now all sold out, so the band is being good enough to release the songs for free download on their Web site. Don't expect Frank Sinatra's croon on these tunes -- they're more capturing the essence of the holidays. Like you started to listen to Christmas music, took a big bong hit, and forgot what the song was but still hear sleigh bells in your head. In other words, they're pretty great. And they're free...although the band is still encouraging its fans to donate to the San Francisco Food Bank. Happy holidays indeed. -- Jennifer Maerz
