The Lowbrow Art Sale: Skot Olsen, Scott Saw & Jason Rudolphpena

"The Devil's Knee" by Skot Olsen

The last time I featured a print by Skot it was after a fire at the Harold Golen Gallery that pretty much destroyed his whole show. But upon revisiting his website, I saw that he has some new work, and some new prints up. No fire is topping this guy. Of his featured prints, the one shown here is the one I dig the most. I love the way the man paints, and the stylized figures and that Boss Hog-looking outfit the Devil is wearing just floor me. The print is limited to 50, signed and numbered and is 19" x 24". "Bro Deal #1 & #2" by Scott Saw

"Lagrimas Negras" by Jason Rudolphpena

An artist of out Arizona, Jason has a great sense of style and even manages to share it with people via YouTube videos. Just by watching him go, one can see that he has great control over the paint and keeps on churning out portrait after portrait. He now has some prints available in his online shop, and one of the ones that stood out the most for me is one depicting Liz Mcgrath, artist and lead singer of Miss Derringer. The painting is named after one of the band's songs, "Lagrimas Negras (Black Tears)." This looks just like Liz, and I love the addition of the banner. The print is 16" x 18", signed and numbered in an edition of 100. Get It Here.

"Living Dead Girl" by Cate Rangel

The last print that this California artist had in one of these articles was one of her more Klimt-looking works, as opposed to this one which is really nothing like I have seen her paint before. I really love when the zombie idea is done with a little more elegance, rather than looking like it should be the cover of a death metal band. The colors and eyes in this painting are perfect. She has done two of these zombie themed works, and now have prints of them for sale. Each one is limited to 100, signed and numbered at 13"x 19". Get It Here.

"Rotten Sponge Boy" by Pickled Punk

Marc A. Damicis, also known as Pickled Punk, is a multi-media artist out of Philadelphia. He does all sorts of killer work, and definitely has a distinctive style. I missed the chance to buy this original, but lucky for me (and maybe you) he now has some prints of it for sale. It's of a zombified "Sponge Boy" that kind of reminds me of those close-up shots they had in the Ren & Stimpy Cartoons, all hyper-detailed and gross-looking. The print is 7" x 10", and the great part is that it's cheaper than eating at most fast food joints. Get It Here.
