Slipped Discs & Skipped Gigs: Rogue Wave Forced to Cancel Another Show

Categories: Music

ZachRogue.jpgIt's been a rough autumn for Zach Rogue (pictured right) of the S.F./Oakland indie-pop band Rogue Wave: as he explains on his band's official blog, he somehow managed to slip a few discs in his back and they've been "pressing on [his] spinal cord like it's a buzzer in a game show." The ongoing pain ("like bolts of white-hot electricity") and subsequent loss of feeling in his fingers have prevented him from performing for the past few weeks.

The most recent show cancellation is this upcoming Friday's gig scheduled for the Independent. Following Rogue Wave's withdrawal from the bill, opening band Minipop will now headline what has become a free concert, with Birds & Batteries and The Botticellis rounding out the bands and DJ Vin Sol spinning tunes during the downtime. Free shows are cool, of course, but I'm sure everyone involved — especially Zach — wishes it were because of different circumstances. — J. Graham
