Protest Prop 8, Master/Slave and TV on the Radio: Your Weekend Hitlist:
Now that everyone has finally recovered from the exhausting and exciting election, here are some cool things to do this weekend.
Protest Prop 8! Obama may have won, but a lot of people lost a very important right in this election. Head to the protest to prove that San Francisco won't quit the fight. Afterwards visit the Hemlock for some kickass music. Local band Master Slash Slave, Portland's Starfucker and Oakland's Men/Miracle play starting at 9:30 pm. There will be lots of dancing, drinking and fun. Looking to take in some art? Friday night Painted Bird (24th and Guerrero) presents Starcade, art by Juliette Oken from 8 to 10.
Saturday night, Omaha's the Faint play the Warfield. Who cares that no one has talked about the Faint for years! The show is $23 and starts at 8. San Francisco's own Loquat has a CD release party at the Bottom of the Hill. The all ages show starts at 10 (doors at 8:30) and tickets are $12. They're joined by the Frail and Mist and Mast. If you're looking for a movie, the Clay is showing Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for their midnight movie Friday and Saturday.
Sunday night go see TV on the Radio at the Warfield. Despite the fact their last album wasn't HUGELY well received, they're always a pleasure to see live. Always. Tickets are $25 and the show starts at 8.
