MP3 of the Day: Facing New York

Eric Frederick is one busy dude. When he's not busy commanding dance pop band Wallpaper (which, by the way, won an SF Weekly Music Award for dance/electronic music last week), he's moving feet in the club with Facing New York. The latter is less electronic, more progressive, post-hardcore rock -- heavy on the synths and dramatic vocals/rhythms. But Frederick doesn't lose his sense of humor as he loads up on the emotionally volatile rock. Check out "Cops on Bikes," from the band's new disc, Get Hot, which takes the piss outta cops who wear the same socks as "little schoolgirls" and shoot rubber bullets at protesters in trees. The band has a double dose of CD release parties coming up too -- Oct. 25 and 26th at Bottom of the Hill. -- Jennifer Maerz
