Death Guild Bids Adieu to Glas Kat, Moves to DNA at End of October

One of the city's longest-running club events, Death Guild, is leaving its home of nearly 15 years. Although it originally started at long-defunct venue The Pit (where AsiaSF is now), in 1994 Death Guild moved to 520 4th Street and pretty much never left. Even after the venue was sold, remodeled, and changed its name from Trocadero Transfer to the Glas Kat at the beginning of this decade, Death Guild remained a weekly staple until its final night, which happens this upcoming Monday, Oct. 20. The following Monday, Oct. 27, Death Guild moves across SoMa to the DNA Lounge — where, ironically, it had held exactly one event before settling into its eventual 4th Street home. Special guest DJ for the DNA inaugural will be Ronan Harris of trancey EBM popsters VNV Nation; as at the Glas Kat, doors open at 9:30 p.m, the cover is $3-$5, and ages 18 & up are all welcome. (In short, the only difference will be the lack of a smoke-filled fishtank in which to get your cancer fix.) For more information, visit the websites for Death Guild or the DNA Lounge. — J. Graham
