Treasure Island Music Festival, Artie Lange, Al Green and Park(ing) Day: Your Monday Morning Hangover

parking-day-in-san-francisco-on-9-19.2560414.36.jpgAnd just like that, another festival weekend's come and gone. Like Outside Lands, it was all hands on deck for the good ship ASD , but let's backtrack a bit. Friday was festival-free but overloaded all the same...

What happens when Park(ing) Day and Talk Like A Pirate Day collide? You get environmentally conscious pirates filling a meter on Valencia and 21st Street, parking their ship between vehicles, presumably preying on unsuspecting motorists and making them walk the plank. Way to make a statement, San Francisco. Clicky to see more of Sam Heller's Park(ing) Day photos.

Also on Friday: Stern sidekick Artie Lange is out of rehab and telling non-PC jokes in SF. Staff writer John Geluardi (who scored Lange's first post-rehab interview sometime back) was in attendance at the sold out Nob Hill Masonic Center show and says that nothing was safe: everything from girlfriends, race, retards and Tom Cruise's questionable sexuality were shot down like ducks in a row. Read John's review here.

Still more Friday coverage: Tamara Palmer made her way to the Sleep Train Pavilion to see the Reverend Al Green. It sounded like a hit-studded good time:

He brought out the big guns like "Let's Stay Together" and "Tired of Being Alone" right away, but made us wait for others. He started to sing "Love and Happiness," then declared that we weren't ready for it yet. It was a good tactic, because everyone loved it when it eventually came back.

But not everyone thought Green was great. One of our readers responded saying the Rev. was "drunk and didn't remember any of his words!" We think that would have been somewhat entertaining. Read all about that here.

Saturday: Finally, Treasure Island. Melissa Baron shared her highlights of day one, which included: Current TV on the bus ride over, the ferris wheel, free hair cuts and face paint, a performance from Justice in which the band didn't appear bored, Lovefoxxx's strange Muppet-like attire and more. Read Melissa's review and flip through Christopher Victorio's slideshow.

Sunday: Music Editor Jennifer Maerz is still pounding out her Treasure Isle day two review. Check back here later for that. Here's Christopher's Sunday slideshow, featuring The Raconteurs, The Kills, Spiritualized, Tokyo Police Club and others in the meantime. --Janine Kahn
