Janet Jackson, Xiu Xiu and Margaret Cho: The Weekend Hitlist

l_f5dd0ad60a50ed90a9305a6e25911a4f.jpgWith a rather somber September 11th under our belt, it's time to embark on the weekend. Here are some suggestions.

Friday night venture to Underground SF on Haight Street for a Killswitch dance night with Broker/Dealer. "Featuring subterranean bass lines, ambient synth pads, dubby beats and interlocking pop melodies, Broker/Dealer's porous, punchy tracks and classy melodic nuances have been eliciting comparisons with the likes of early Mouse on Mars and Thomas Brinkmann since the release of their first 12" on the well-respected Cologne label, Traum Schallplatten." And if you have a car, go hang out with Margaret Cho in Saratoga. Everyone needs a little filthy humor now and then.

Saturday at the Bottom of the Hill, catch Bay Area Kill Rockstars band Xiu Xiu. It's the last show of their tour and the show is not to be missed. Evangelista, Prurient and
Mary Halvorson & Jessica Pavone open the show. Over in Oakland, Ms. Janet Jackson herself will be playing at the Oracle Arena. Ticket prices range from US $37.50 - US $123.25 and parking is $25.

Sunday night get your lame on at the Rocket Summer concert at the Fillmore featuring Phantom Planet (post Jason Schwartzman), the Secret Handshake and the Morning Light.

There's your weekend hitlist. Don't forget Gossip Girl on Monday! --Melissa Baron
