Song of the Day: Ty Segall

My show pick for the weekend is tonight's gig with Girls and Ty Segall at the Hemlock. It's a chance to hear two locals causing a good little commotion around town. I wrote about Girls in my column this week, and Ty is part of the Traditional Fools, one of my favorite local garage rock acts. Separated from the Fools, Ty takes influence from John Dwyer's myriad projects, producing a trippy racket that cuts the difference between Ty's other band and Thee Oh Sees. Tonight Ty will have a brand spanking new record available for sale, but you can preview the merchandise at his MySpace page, which offers three wicked, twisted, fuzzy nuggets for your streaming pleasure. -- Jennifer Maerz
