Folsom Street Fair, Cal Academy of Sciences Opening and Fort Mason's Big Book Sale: Your Monday Morning Hangover

We're guessing we don't have to tell you what the weekend highlight was. Sunday's Folsom Street Fair was so packed that our Melissa Baron found it hard to adequately explore, and our husband-wife photo team of Mike and Jen Cash report that their bottoms met with a riding crop or two over the course of the shoot. Brilliant. Read Melissa's highlight rundown and check back later for the Cash shots...our wonderful slideshow tool is giving us attitude at the moment.

In other visually-stimulating news, Sunday was closing day for two massively popular exhibits: Chihuly at the de Young and Frida Kahlo at SFMOMA. ASD correspondent Catherine McCulloch was there for the glass artist's exhibit opening back in June, so if you missed out, you're free to browse her photos. Incidentally, Catherine also hit up the Frida show, but this time a prudent two weeks after the exhibit opened its doors.

But while those two were closing shop, another much-anticipated attraction opened to the public. We speak of the California Academy of Sciences, which was so flooded with guests on Saturday that it twittered (yes, it twitters!) the following just past noon:
OPENING DAY ALERT: The Academy is at capacity for today, Sat. 9/27. No more entry. Please buy tickets online for a future date.
Music Editor Jennifer Maerz avoided the crowds by taking a press tour through the Academy two Thursdays back. Her photos made us very jealous.

Saturday night took our Jackie Lopez to Milk for Flava of the Month's five year anniversary, where much Hennessey and hip-hop were had but the female to male ratio was 2:10. Read Jackie's notes from the sausagefest (and photos of the women who actually showed) here.
Friday through Sunday, literary lovers flocked to the massive Friends of the Library Sale at Fort Mason. Our Meredith Brody attended the member's preview on Wednesday and bought seven bags of books! Read about her conquests here.

More Friday coverage: Mekuria Getinet got some great black and whites at the Cold War Kids show at the GAMH. And SFoodie blogger Tamara Palmer attended one of chef Hoss Zaré's weekend parties and enjoyed the "Hoss-pitality." --Janine Kahn
