Tonight on the SFFS Screen: Days and Clouds

Another thoughtful antidote to the mindless blockbusters of summer is to be fround at the Sundance Kabuki on Friday, August 29, when the Italian family drama Days and Clouds, directed by Silvio Soldini (Bread and Tulips, opens on the SanFrancisco Film Society screen at them Sundance Kabuki Cinema. A familiar story nowadays -- husband suddenly fired, comfortable upper-middle-class existence thrown into flux, loss of material possessions and status lead to changes that can be constructive as well as destructive -- set in contemporary Italy, the beautifully-acted Days and Clouds was nominated for 15 Donatellos (Italy’s Oscar equivalent). --Meredith Brody
