No Depression to be revived as a Web zine

Fans of alt country mag No Depression got some good news this week. The publication that consistently covered that genre (as well as the outlying areas of roots music and indie rock) will start publishing again in September. The magazine shut down as a print entity last May, and it won't be killing any trees covering the new Pinetop Perkins album. Instead the editors are trying their hand at a Web zine, hosted at NoDepression.com, which will feature "daily blogs, daily record reviews, daily news reports, feature stories, live reviews, interactive forums, multimedia content, and more," according to the news posted now on the site. To help get things up and running, the editors are offering special "memberships" to the No Depression inner circle, which includes, for the big spenders, a "signed cover-flat of the ND #33 painting of Lucinda Williams by Jon Langford." -- Jennifer Maerz
